10-Day Mt Kenya Climbing And Safari Tour

Hike one of Africa's second-highest mountains after Mt Kilimanjaro, with the most breathtaking mountain views. Many people prefer Mt Kenya because of its wilderness, abundant wildlife, and stunning mountain lakes. In addition to being the highest via ferrata summit path, Point Lenana's 4985 m elevation makes it a doable trekking peak. Mt Kenya offers an enjoyable African trail experience with panoramic views of the nearby savannah, broad valleys, and craggy volcanic peaks. Also, Participate in a unique safari in several parks in Kenya, starting with Samburu, which is well-known for its "Samburu special 5" animals; Ol Pejeta, which is well-known for housing the last Northern white rhino, Naivasha, which is a birder's paradise, and Masai Mara, which is a safari enthusiast's dream location.

Itinerary

Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi/Sirimon/Judmaier Camp (Old Moses Camp) 3-4 hrs, 9km, 860m ascent

Depart Nairobi at 7:30 a.m. and travel for about 4 hours to Nanyuki town for lunch. Continue 1 hr, 2440 m to Sirimon Gate. Follow the path as it winds uphill through the forest and into heath land after about 3 hours from the gate. The route turns right at 3300m, about 3½ hrs from the gate into Judmaier Camp. -Dinner and overnight at Judmaier Camp.


Day 2: Judmier Camp/Shipton Camp 6-7hrs, 17km, 900m ascent

After breakfast, leave Moses Camp Old and continue the uphill trail, turning left at the junction. Ontulili River is crossed after an hour. Turn right, contouring through the Moorland, crossing Liki North, and continuing upward to Mackinders Valley, where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the valley and the surrounding peaks -Dinner and overnight at Shipton Camp, 4200m.


Day 3: Shiptons/Point Lenana/Mount Meru Bandas (Chogoria Gate) 11-12hrs, 32km, 785m ascent

Leave at 3 a.m. and ascend a stony slope that cuts through a visible part of a cliff towards lower hall tarns. Reaching Mount Kenya Point Lenana takes about 3 hours, 6 km from Shipton camp. After sunrise, descend to Mintos Hut (6 km) for breakfast, and trek further down 20 km (4-5 hours) to Mount Meru Bandas, 2950m, for dinner and overnight on Mount Kenya.


Day 4: Chogoria Bandas/Chogoria/Samburu

Depart Mount Meru Bandas and descend 2hrs to forest clearance(15km). Board a 4x4 transfer vehicle to Samburu and arrive at Samburu National Reserve in time for lunch and a wildlife drive in the afternoon. Although the Samburu National Park in Kenya is one of the less well-known parks, it is packed with wildlife. Located along the Ewaso Nyiro River, there is a lot to draw animals from the nearby savanna lands to this area. Numerous endangered northern species, including the Beisa oryx (the "Samburu Special Five"), reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, Grevy's zebra, and gerenuk, are found in the area.

Day 5: Samburu National Reserve

Enjoy Samburu National Reserve game drive early in the morning, which is the best time to see wildlife. Your guide will look for elusive cats like leopards and lions as they go. After breakfast, return to your accommodation and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. You will embark on a second game drive in the early evening in quest of Samburu's abundant wildlife. You can also go on a full-day game drive with a packed lunch after breakfast and return to the camp in the late afternoon. You will encounter the various wildlife species that inhabit Samburu National Park and learn more about them. On a typical game drive, you will likely see Giraffes, Leopards, Elephants, Lions, and other wild animals. After your evening game drive, you will return to your lodge for evening rest and dinner.

Day 6: Samburu - Ol Pejeta Conservancy

After breakfast, go for a game drive in Samburu National Reserve and depart Samburu for Nanyuki. Arrive at the Comfort Garden Ol Pejeta in time for lunch and have an afternoon nap. Be on the lookout for Chimpanzees in Ol Pejeta. You will have an early-evening game drive in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy and return to your camp in time for supper.

Day 7: Ol Pejeta - Lake Naivasha

After breakfast, you will leave the base of Mount Kenya and travel through the Aberdare Ranges towards the Rift Valley. You'll travel into the rift valley and arrive at Lake Naivasha's shores just in time for lunch. The Lake Naivasha ecosystem comprises the saltwater lake, savannah grassland, and acacia woodland. The lake is home to many various species of waterbirds and mammals, including giraffes, hippopotamuses, antelopes, and others. Enjoy cycling in Hells Gate National Park before returning to your accommodation for dinner and your stay for the night.

Day 8: Lake Naivasha - Masai Mara

You'll leave for a boat excursion on Lake Naivasha after an early breakfast before departing for Masai Mara National Reserve. Drive through the Masai territory and pass through the Rift Valley escarpment and vast open fields before arriving at the Masai town of Narok. From there, you'll head into the park in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive. Due to the "big five" and a wide variety of other plains games, Maasai Mara is Kenyan's most popular safari destination. Both the Mara and Serengeti habitats are traversed by the Mara River, which eventually empties into Lake Victoria. The most impressive and noteworthy are the wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle that migrate instinctively from the Serengeti in Tanzania to the Masai Mara in Kenya.

Day 9: Masai Mara National reserve

Today, you will enjoy a full-day game drive at the expansive Maasai Mara National Reserve, which is teeming with animals. Mara's best predator habitat is where we'll spend most of our time today. Elephants, hippos, Masai giraffes, common zebras, antelope, impalas, Thompson's and Grant's gazelles, topi, black-backed jackals, spotted hyenas, and other animals are also likely to be present. Enjoy a packed lunch, and return to the camp. (continuing your game drive en route).

Day 10: Nairobi

Early morning game drive in the Mara and breakfast at your camp. After breakfast, check out of the camp and say goodbye as you enjoy game viewing on your journey to Nairobi through the Mara plains and wildlife dispersal areas. You will be taken to the airport, your home, or your chosen hotel once you land in Nairobi in the early afternoon.
