Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi to Lake Ellis

Early pick-up in Nairobi to leave for Chogoria Gate in Mount Kenya. The hike begins from the Chogoria Gate, following Chogoria Road through the forest and the giant heath until the track descends to cross a stream to Nithi Falls. Each drop cascading over the rocks in Nithi Falls will provide a magical roar. Amazing views, a tranquil pool at the foot of the fall, and clear veneer plunging down the mountain are what to expect. Turn right and head towards Mugi Hills for spectacular views of Table Mountain before descending to Lake Ellis, where we'll spend the night. Nothing compares to the sensation of spending a night next to a lake and under a starry sky. Since only a few people spend the night on this lake at 3470m ASL, this is already a unique experience.

We have two more hours until we get to Camp Mintos, where we will stay. Here you can give your feet a much-needed break and allow them to breathe around the beautiful Mintos Tarn.
