This 8 day Tarangire Manyara Serengeti and Ngorongoro safari visits Tarangire, Lake Manyara, the Serengeti for 3 nights and the Ngorongoro Crater in a private 4×4 Land Cruiser from Kilimanjaro Airport.
Overview
This 8 day Tarangire Manyara Serengeti and Ngorongoro safari is a private 7-night northern Tanzania safari from Kilimanjaro International Airport. You spend a night in Arusha, game drive in Tarangire and Lake Manyara, stay 3 nights in the Serengeti and tour the Ngorongoro Crater before flying home. It runs all year round and costs from USD 3,395 per adult.
It suits first-time visitors, couples and families who want all four classic northern parks in one trip, travelling in a private 4×4 Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof, a private English-speaking driver-guide and full board in mid-range lodges and tented camps.
Why choose an 8 day Tarangire Manyara Serengeti and Ngorongoro safari?
Tarangire, Lake Manyara, the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater each give a different safari, and this route visits all four in eight days. Tarangire is a baobab-rich park known for massive elephant herds and good predator sightings, while Lake Manyara is famous for tree-climbing lions, elephants, soda lake flamingos and groundwater forest below the Rift Valley wall.
The Serengeti then gets 3 nights at one camp, with two full days on the plains looking for the wildebeest herds and big cats. The safari ends with a full crater tour, where black rhinos, lion prides, elephants and hyenas live in one natural bowl.
- Private travellers: your own vehicle and driver-guide, with unlimited game drives.
- First-timers: all four headline parks of the northern circuit in one trip.
- Photographers: a pop-up roof and 3 nights in the Serengeti.
What to expect on the 8 day Tarangire Manyara Serengeti and Ngorongoro safari
Day 1 starts at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where your guide meets you and drives you about 1 hour to Arusha for a rest, a safari briefing and the night at Mt. Meru Hotel. On day 2 you drive about 2.5 to 3 hours to Tarangire National Park for a full day of game drives with a picnic lunch, then about 1 hour to the Lake Manyara escarpment for the night at Ngorongoro Coffee Lodge.
Day 3 is a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park, followed by an afternoon transfer of about 1 to 1.5 hours to the Karatu area and a second night at Ngorongoro Coffee Lodge. On day 4 you drive about 5 hours from Karatu to the Serengeti through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with scenic stops, and check in at Tamba Tented Camp.
Days 5 and 6 are full days in Serengeti National Park, with sunrise and sunset game drives and both nights at Tamba Tented Camp. On day 7 you drive about 3 to 4 hours to the Ngorongoro Crater, descend for a crater tour with a picnic lunch on the floor and return to Ngorongoro Coffee Lodge. Day 8 is the drive of about 4 to 5 hours to Kilimanjaro Airport, which suits evening flights.
Is 8 days enough for Tarangire, Manyara, the Serengeti and Ngorongoro?
Eight days are enough for Tarangire, Lake Manyara, the Serengeti and Ngorongoro because each park gets its own game drive and the Serengeti gets 3 nights. The long days are day 4 (about 5 hours to the Serengeti) and day 8 (4 to 5 hours to the airport). Read our Tarangire National Park guide and our Serengeti vs Ngorongoro guide to see what each park offers. For a mid-range route with Lake Eyasi instead of Lake Manyara, see the 8 day midrange Tanzania safari.
