9 Days Gorilla and Chimpanzee Trekking Safari

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our professional company representative from Divulge Adventures who will accompany you throughout the journey. Ready to begin your Gorilla and Chimpanzee Trekking Safari

After a short briefing about your Gorilla and Chimpanzee trekking safari, you will be transferred to your hotel Kampala Serena Hotel for relaxation after your flight.

Depending on your arrival time, you will have an opportunity to go to Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest freshwater lake and explore the beatutiful city then go back to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Your Gorilla and Chimpanzee trekking safari begins early in the morning with breakfast at approximately 6:00 am before departing Kampala at around 7:00 am for Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest and oldest conservation area.

The drive northward takes approximately 6–7 hours with scenic countryside views, roadside markets, traditional homesteads, and local communities along the way.

En route, you will stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for an exciting guided rhino trekking experience. This sanctuary is home to Uganda’s only wild rhinos and plays a major role in rhino conservation.

Accompanied by experienced rangers, you will walk through the bush to observe the endangered white rhinos at close range in their natural habitat.

After the trek, enjoy lunch at the sanctuary restaurant before continuing toward Murchison Falls National Park.

Before heading to your lodge, you will visit the famous Top of the Falls where the mighty River Nile squeezes through a narrow 7-meter gorge before plunging powerfully down approximately 43 meters.

The roaring sound, misty spray, and dramatic scenery create one of the most spectacular natural attractions in Africa. Proceed to Pakuba Safari lodge for dinner and overnight.

Rise early for breakfast before heading out for a sunrise game drive across the northern sector of Murchison Falls National Park, one of the best wildlife viewing areas in Uganda.

The early morning hours offer excellent opportunities to spot predators and other wildlife while they are most active.

Your guide will help you track wildlife while sharing interesting information about the park’s ecosystem and animal behavior. Return to the lodge for relaxation and an early lunch.

In the afternoon, depart for a memorable boat safari along the Victoria Nile toward the base of Murchison Falls.

This cruise is one of the highlights of the park and offers incredible close-up views of wildlife gathering along the riverbanks.

The cruise ends near the bottom of the falls where you will witness the powerful waters crashing through the gorge, marking the end of the Gorilla and Chimpanzee trekking safari day.

Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast before departing Murchison Falls National Park for Kibale National Park, home to the highest concentration of primates in East Africa.

Before leaving the park region, you'll revisit scenic viewpoints around the falls area.

The journey to Kibale takes approximately 5–6 hours and passes through beautiful landscapes, tea plantations, rolling hills, rural villages, and lush countryside.

Lunch will be served en route before continuing to the forested region of Kibale. Kibale National Park is renowned for its rich biodiversity and is especially famous for chimpanzee tracking experiences.

Arrive at Primate lodge Kibale in the evening for dinner and relaxation.

After breakfast, head to Kibale National Park headquarters for a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers about chimpanzee trekking rules and safety guidelines.

Enter the tropical rainforest in search of habituated chimpanzees.

The trek can last between 2–4 hours depending on the movement of the chimpanzees within the forest.

Once the chimpanzees are located, you will spend one hour observing their fascinating social interactions, feeding habits, grooming behavior, and playful movements through the forest canopy.

Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. Later in the afternoon, visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a guided community nature walk. This eco-tourism initiative supports local communities while protecting the wetland ecosystem.

This walk offers excellent opportunities for birdwatching and cultural interaction with local communities. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast, depart Kibale and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s most popular savannah park, famous for its diverse ecosystems, wildlife, and scenic beauty.

The drive takes approximately 2–3 hours and passes through beautiful crater lakes and rolling hills. Arrive at Elephant plains lodge in time for lunch and relaxation.

In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway connecting Lake George and Lake Edward.

Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Wake up early for another exciting morning game drive through the Kasenyi Plains and Queen’s Mile area.

After the game drive, begin your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home of the endangered mountain gorillas.

The drive takes approximately 5–6 hours through scenic hills, local villages, terraced farmlands, and forested landscapes. Lunch will be served en route.

Arrive at Four Gorilla lodge in the evening for relaxation and preparation for the gorilla trekking adventure.

After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for registration and briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers.

The trek through the dense rainforest can take anywhere from 2–8 hours depending on the location of the gorilla family assigned to your group.

The terrain can be steep, muddy, and physically demanding, but the reward is unforgettable. Once the gorillas are found, you will spend one magical hour observing them in their natural habitat.

Watching these gentle giants feed, play, groom, and interact is considered one of the world’s greatest wildlife experiences.

You will also visit the Batwa community after trekking to learn about the indigenous forest people who originally lived within the Bwindi forest.

Enjoy traditional dances, storytelling, music, and insights into their ancient forest survival skills. Return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight stay

After an early breakfast, begin your return journey to Kampala. The drive takes approximately 10–11 hours with scenic countryside views and en-route lunch.

You will have an opportunity to stop for souvenir shopping or photography along the way.
